Professor Vana Papaevangelou is a trained paediatrician and paediatric infectious diseases specialist. Over the past 25 years, Professor Papaevangelou has been actively involved in multiple research projects. Her main interests involve the epidemiology of vaccine-preventable diseases and vertical transmission of infections especially cCMV.
She is one of founding members of the cCMVnet, a scientific committee working on congenital CMV. The vision of cCMVnet is to join forces of European colleagues, as well as colleagues from other parts of the world, with a special interest on cCMV. Main aims include the dissemination of current knowledge among both public and medical communities and to promote future evidence based clinical research. The registry of cCMV infected children will enable us to accumulate pertinent data, design large scale clinical trials and guide best clinical practice.
