cCMVnet Virtual Clinics

An online virtual clinic has also been initiated by the cCMVnet initiative, a forum for clinicians to review complex cases and treatment strategies.

Virtual clinics are taking place every last Wednesday of each calendar month, at 17.00 CET.

Since February 2021 we have run 24 Virtual clinics, with more than 84 cases. Approximately 40 clinicians from 12 European and Asian countries (including Spain, UK, Greece, Germany, Estonia, Iceland, Denmark, Armenia) across multiple specialties (including general paediatrics, neonatology, paediatric infectious diseases, audiology, obstetrics, ENT virology) have attended each clinic. Recommendations from the cCMVnet steering committee and other experts in the field were provided, and summarised in anonymised feedback to the clinician leading the case and the wider network. Issues discussed include management of preterm infants with cCMV, treatment options when cCMV is diagnosed after the neonatal period, deranged liver function during treatment, best timing and prognostic value of brain MRI, etc. The cCMVnet virtual clinic highlights the gaps in treatment guidelines and the urgent need for further clinical research.

Anyone interested in presenting a case, or who would like to simply attend for educational purposes is more than welcomed – contact ccmvnet@gmail.com. Anyone presenting a case is awarded a certificate of attendance.
